Comparing the Best Android Twitter Clients

| May 5, 2010 |
Updated (5/5/2010) - Added Official Twitter Client for Android

Updated (4/20/10) - Added Twicca, HootSuite, Touiteur and ratings.

Updated (2/5/10) - Seesmic has been updated to v1.2 which includes search, multiple accounts and many bug fixes.

My new favorite client is Twicca. So fast and simply the best.

Three of my favorite twitter clients are Twidroid, Swift, and Seesmic. Personally, I used to use Twidroid because it supports multiple accounts. If you don't feel like shelling out the $5 for the pro version I would suggest using HootSuite Seesmic Swift app because Twidroid free can't manage followers and Seesmic doesn't support search. There are pros and cons to each app and I would suggest giving each one a shot and see what works best for you.

Another con to twicca is no bitly shortening. Another pro is seesmic is ability to see profile pics very large.

Twicca actually does have bitly URL shortening, its just a little hard to find. When composing a new tweet click the double arrows pointing at each other. You can also expand any shortened URL by long pressing the URL and choosing "Expand this URL"

Twidroid doesn't link replies to original. No app that overlooks such a basic feature deserves that many stars.

It does link replies. Click on the replied tweet and select "Show Conversation". It should show all the tweets in the conversation.

Do we mean the same thing? When you reply with most twitter clients, the two messages share a thread that you can see on the web (and some clients). Not with twidroid. I reply and people have to ask me what I replied to.

I gotcha. I was thinking you meant Twidroid doesn't display conversations within the app. I assume you are talking about the app publishing the reply properly. I did not realize that. Thanks for the heads up.
